UNIC mini crane helps with All Souls Church renovation
A 6 tonne capacity UNIC URW-706 mini spider crane was hired to help transform a disused church into a new community centre as part of the £4.9 million project in Bolton, UK.
Built in the 1880s, All Souls Church was closed 100 years later in the 1980s and has hardly been used since then. The external features of this Grade II* listed church building have been restored and the interior has been transformed into a modern multi-purpose community space. The church pews and altar have been removed and replaced with modern two meeting room “pods” and space for events.
The UNIC URW-706 crane was used to lift steel beams and girders inside the church to create the new two storey structure. Its compact 1.67 metre wide chassis meant it could easily move through the church’s small doorway. The crane was able to lift the 600kg steel sections to a 9.5 metre maximum lifting height inside the church.
