UNIC mini crane helps transform Leeds listed building
A UNIC mini spider crane was hired to help convert a 19th century former school house in Leeds (UK) into modern apartments recently.
As Lawns House is a Grade II listed building, meaning that its external appearance has to be preserved, a UNIC URW-095 mini crane was used to help deconstruct a stone façade then recreate it 8 metres away to make room for an extension to be built.
The UNIC URW-095 mini crane was able to work safely on the uneven terrain on this restricted access and congested working site. The 0.995 tonne mini crane was used with a stone lifting clamp to carefully move the stone loads when stripping down and rebuilding the façade. The mini crane worked at a four metre height to lift these 900kg upright stone pieces onto the rooftop.
UNIC mini cranes have worked on many listed building projects in the past, such as lifting stonework at Astley Castle and installing a glazed entrance at Ripon Cathedral.
