UNIC Cranes Europe’s official Czech Republic dealer, KMB Stavební Servis, recently completed a tandem lift for a brewery in Prague. At one of the country’s largest beer distributors the customer needed assistance with the installation of a beer tank on their premises. As a vital part of their production line, it was essential that this lift was completed with efficiency.
After assessing the challenges they would be up against KMB selected the URW-547 and URW-376 Mini Spider Crane. Compact yet powerful these mini cranes are designed for heavy lifting challenges in confined spaces. Precise controls offer stable and accurate lifting, meaning operators can lift loads with ease. The 360° continuous slewing ability of these cranes grants extra flexibility and lessens the need for constant repositioning of the crane.
KMB’s first challenge was the internal location for the lift, requiring a machine that could access the shutter door entryway. With retractable outriggers, the URW-547 and URW-376 can become as compact as 1400mm and 1300mm wide, respectively.
After tracking into the building, the operators set the cranes up in their first position to retrieve the beer tank from the delivery truck. Once the truck had been backed into the building the lift team attached the cranes’ hooks to the tank. With the cranes lifting from either end the operators slewed the tank into position for the next stage of the lift.
Using the spider cranes’ precision controls the operators then worked in sync to lift the beer tank into the upright position. The installation team then secured the load ensuring it was safe to release before the crane hooks were removed.

The compact size and precise handling of the cranes allowed for seamless navigation through confined spaces, while their lifting power provided the strength needed to complete the job with accuracy.
