A Spider In The Garden
A UNIC mini spider crane was hired to help plant some large trees inside the atrium of a new building at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, UK recently.
The UNIC URW-376 mini spider crane was used to create an indoor winter garden at the new Brunel building which cost £430 million to develop.
Lifting trees weighing up to 1050kg and measuring in at 9 metres tall, the UNIC mini crane lifted each load to a 6 metre height over a handrail then lowered them down to be planted on the level below.
Gaining access to the 280 metre long glazed atrium through the entrance doorway, the 2.9 tonne capacity UNIC crane was tracked over mats was positioned on timber billets at each of the set up locations.
UNIC mini cranes are often used for indoor and outdoor landscaping projects such as this. These compact machines have also planted trees in private gardens, show gardens and on the grounds of stately homes.
