A Spider In The Woods
A UNIC mini spider crane was hired to work at the open air cinema in Regent’s Park , London to create a woodland-inspired set for a production of the Stephen Sondheim musical “Into The Woods”.
A 2.9 tonne capacity UNIC URW-295 mini crane model helped create the multi-level stage which had been designed by award winning set designer Soutra Gilmour. The UNIC crane lifted steelwork into position to create the complex maze of staircases, walkways and platforms which incorporated the surrounding trees of the park’s woodland backdrop.
Watch the UNIC URW-295 in action in a time lapse video of the crane building the set and a clip from BBC News of the show’s directors giving a tour of the stage in construction.
“Into The Woods” is a musical that features over 20 popular fairytale characters such as Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood. Disney are planning a movie remake of the show starring Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep which is due for release in 2014.
