A UNIC mini spider crane was hired to help with some lifting work inside Terminal 3 at London’s Heathrow airport recently before the crowds of holiday makers arrive to jet off on their summer trips.
The UNIC URW-506 mini crane model used its 3 tonne lifting capacity to install steel beams to create a frame for a display screen in Departures. The largest beams were 5 metres long and weighed 300kg. The mini crane spent two nights working at Heathrow Airport where it had to lift the steel beams to a 10 metre height around obstacles such as a large information screen.
Thanks to the spider crane’s compact dimensions it could easily gain access to the terminal and was tracked over plywood boards to reach its lifting location.
