Spider Plus, our trusted dealer in the UAE, recently completed a challenging glass replacement project at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi using the UNIC URW-706 spider crane. The job involved removing and installing a new glass panel on the university’s main entrance façade. Measuring 6.3 by 2.5 metres and weighing 1.79 tonnes, the panel was a significant load that required precision and reliability to handle safely.

The building’s striking full-glass façade made accuracy essential, but what made this project particularly complex was the restricted access around the site. When the original panels were first installed during construction, large mobile cranes had the space they needed to work freely. Over time, the environment changed with the addition of shaded parking, landscaping, street furniture, and safety installations such as fire hydrants. These developments left little room for large equipment, creating real challenges for replacing the damaged glass.

The UNIC URW-706 proved to be the perfect choice. Compact enough to navigate tight areas yet powerful enough to lift up to 6 tonnes with a reach of 19.5 metres, the crane was able to get close to the façade and complete the work without disrupting the surrounding features. Working in combination with a 2-ton capacity glass lifter, the crane delivered a smooth and controlled lift, ensuring the panel was positioned with absolute care.

Projects like this highlight not only the capabilities of the UNIC spider crane range but also the expertise of our dealer network. Spider Plus once again demonstrated their skill and professionalism. Together, we continue to provide lifting solutions that make difficult jobs possible, whether in construction, glass installation, or complex replacements like this one at Zayed University.
