Hospital glazing is pain free thanks to UNIC crane
A UNIC mini crane was just what the doctor ordered when it came to a glazing challenge at a UK hospital recently.
The UNIC URW-506 spider crane was hired to fit 115 units to a glass atrium in the hospital’s new wing over a two week project. Each 250kg façade panel was lifted by the mini crane and a glass vacuum lifter onto the curved atrium shell, before being fitted into position by a team of glaziers on an access platform.
The mini crane installed three rows of 3.6 metre tall panels onto the structure, using a 500kg capacity searcher hook to precisely position the top level of glass underneath a 1.2 metre overhang. With all 115 of the glass panels installed with no trouble, the hospital’s new atrium was completed on schedule thanks to the UNIC mini crane.
