
UNIC Cranes Europe’s UAE dealer Spider Plus recently completed the installation of oversized cladding for a new entertainment centre in Riyadh. With the customer’s tower crane unable to reach the installation area Spider Plus was contacted to assist with their innovative fleet of mini spider cranes.
After assessing the parameters of the project Spider Plus discovered several challenges which required their bespoke equipment. The cladding weighing at 400kg with a height of 10m made handling difficult and required equipment that could lift oversized loads with ease. Due to the location of the lift other lifting solutions such as a tower crane were unable to reach the location or lift the load.
From this information, Spider Plus decided the URW-376 Mini Spider Crane would be best suited for the challenge. With 2.9t of lifting power and precise controls the URW-376 was able to lift each cladding section with accuracy, allowing the workers to secure each piece together. The URW-376’s 14.9m maximum lifting height ensured the operator could lift the 10m tall load with ease, allowing plenty of room to lift over obstacles and position the cladding.

With this crane’s compact size, it could easily be tracked to the lift location. Outriggers which can be folded away provide the URW-376 with a width of just 1300mm—an ideal size for squeezing through doorways and around obstacles on site. The crane’s 360° of continuous slew provided Spider Plus with the needed flexibility for the job and reduced the need for constant repositioning.
