Spider Plus, UNIC Cranes Europe’s official UAE dealer, recently completed an impressive project glazing a luxury villa in Jumeirah Bay, Dubai. Using the URW-547 Mini Spider Crane and GL-UMC 600 Glass Manipulator Spider Plus took on the challenges they faced with ease.
Presenting multiple obstacles this luxury villa required the expertise of Spider Plus’s team and the innovative features of the UNIC range. This project came with several challenges including lifting 15 glazing units at a working height of up to 8m, lifting under a 2.5m overhang, and only a 0.25m clearance between the glass and floor.
Following arrival on site, the operator set up the URW-547 beside the villa’s structure with the GL-UMC 600 attached. Selected for its compact size the URW-547 could easily fit in the limited space between two structures. Measuring just 1400mm wide when its outriggers are retracted the crane could be manoeuvred through areas of the site with limited space.
With a maximum lifting height of up to 18.2m and 4t maximum capacity, this crane lifted the 560kg glazing units to the 8m working height with ease. Due to the small 0.25m clearance, a 2.5m overhang and the large 3.4m×2.5m glazing this job also required an extra piece of equipment to provide extra precision for the installation.
To ensure precision in the installation, Spider Plus utilised the GL-UMC 600 Glass Manipulator. This robotic attachment features 360° continuous rotation, 35° head slew left and right, and a 120° tilt, allowing for precise control via radio remote. With a 600kg capacity, the manipulator was able to carefully tilt and manoeuvre the large glass panels under the villa’s overhang and then return them to a vertical position for installation.
By combining the innovative technology of the URW-547 and GL-UMC 600 with the expertise of their team, Spider Plus completed this complex glazing project with precision and ease, further demonstrating their capabilities in handling complex construction challenges.
