Mountain climbing spider crane works at hydroelectric power plant
This UNIC URW-095 mini spider crane travelled 1600 metres up the Dolomites mountain range in Italy to perform a tricky lift at a hydroelectric power plant.
Located in a particularly isolated area in South Tyrol, north Italy, this hydropower station was originally built in the 1900s. The UNIC mini crane was hired to remove and replace a pipeline valve weighing 800kg.
This 0.995 tonne capacity UNIC mini crane was chosen for this restricted access job because of its small footprint and multi-positionable outriggers which meant it could get close enough to the pipe to lift the valve whilst working around the nearby staircase.
To reach the lifting location, the UNIC URW-095 was carried up some of the mountain slopes in a railway cart. Levo are our official UNIC mini cranes dealers in Italy and supplied this mini crane to the lifting company taking on this job.
