Norway’s substations get some lifting power from UNIC cranes
A 6 tonne capacity UNIC URW-706 spider crane has been sold to Statnett by Knutsen Maskin A.S, Norway’s official UNIC mini crane dealers. Statnett is the country’s power grid operator and will be using the mini crane to tackle lifting challenges around the Kristiansand substation.
The Kristiansand substation helps supply power to the South West region of Norway. The UNIC URW-706 will be used on the project to upgrade the voltage on the lines running from Kristiansand as part Statnett’s greater scheme to improve power distribution in Norway.
Knutsen Maskin A.S, led by Managing Director Thor Nordahl, has been an official UNIC distributor for the past two years. Based in Jessheim, near Oslo, Knutsen Maskin has sold a number of cranes to customers around the country, especially after a very successful Bauma show earlier this year.
UNIC mini cranes are ideal for working in the power industry, particularly in restricted zones as safe working parameters can be set using the crane’s working area limitation feature. They are proven performers on decommissioning, repair and maintenance projects in power stations across the UK.
