In the heart of Dubai’s popular Jumeirah Bay, a luxury villa project recently presented a unique challenge: installing large, heavy glass panels in a confined space with limited access. Spider Plus, our trusted dealer in the UAE handled the challenge, demonstrating the versatility and power of UNIC mini cranes.

The task involved lifting glass panels weighing 700kg each and measuring 2.4 by 2.2 metres. The site’s consisted of tight quarters and insufficient room to deploy a crane boom at a low angle. Spider Plus selected the UNIC URW-706 spider crane used with an overhang beam to overcome this, the crane renowned for its compact design and impressive lifting capabilities.
The URW-706 boasts a maximum lifting capacity of 6 tonnes at 3 metres and a hook height of 19.5 metres, extendable to 22.7 metres with an optional fly jib. Its slim profile, just 1.67 metres wide, allows it to navigate through standard double doorways, making it ideal for restricted access sites.
To address the spatial limitations, the team employed an overhang beam, enabling them to lift and position the glass panels precisely without compromising safety or efficiency. The crane’s radio remote control system provided operators with enhanced visibility and control, ensuring each panel was installed perfectly.
This project shows how the right equipment, combined with expert planning, can overcome even the most challenging site conditions.
