Spider crane climbs up to rooftop for cladding installation
UNIC mini spider cranes worked from the rooftop of this new student accommodation building recently to fit over 1,000 glass reinforced cladding panels onto its exterior.
Using the on-site tower crane, two UNIC URW-295 mini cranes were lifted onto a rooftop 7 floors up to install GRC panels around the façade. The 2.9 tonne capacity cranes lifted 600kg units over a 3 metre high wall then down to various installation points on each storey.
The mini crane installed both standard 3 metre tall panels and L-shaped corner units using spreader beams and steel plates with pins to lift them. Using the mini cranes meant that the site’s tower crane was free to be used for other lifting work.
Here are some more examples of UNIC mini cranes being used to install stone cladding panels in restricted access areas.
