Working in dense urban environments often means dealing with severe space constraints, limited access, and strict safety requirements. On a construction project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, these challenges were front and centre, and they required a lifting solution that was compact, powerful, and highly precise. With large cranes unable to access the site, Spider Plus turned to UNIC spider cranes to complete the job safely and efficiently.

The project involved the installation of steel elements and GRC panels within a restricted site footprint. Steel loads weighing up to 1,400kg and GRC panels ranging from 500 to 800kg needed to be lifted and positioned with accuracy, all while navigating tight access points and limited working space. Traditional lifting equipment simply wasn’t an option, making spider cranes the ideal solution.
A UNIC URW-1006 spider crane was deployed to handle the heaviest steel elements, lifting loads of up to 1,400kg with ease. Known for its impressive lifting capacity combined with a compact design, the URW-1006 proved perfectly suited to the confined conditions on site.
Alongside the URW-1006, two UNIC URW-706 spider cranes were used to install the GRC panels. With lifting weights between 500 and 800kg, the URW-706 models provided the flexibility and precision needed to position panels accurately, in tight spaces. Their compact footprint, strong pick-and-carry capability, and exceptional stability made them an essential part of the lifting plan.

By selecting the right equipment for the environment, Spider Plus was able to overcome site restrictions and deliver the project properly, without compromise on safety or performance.
UNIC Cranes Europe is proud to support long-standing partners like Spider Plus, whose expertise continue to demonstrate the real-world value of spider crane solutions.
