Unic mini spider cranes are often seen perched on top of towering skyscrapers in cities around the world, just like the hero of the latest “The Amazing Spiderman” blockbuster.
Thanks to the original design and ground-breaking research which goes into creating Unic mini cranes, these mini machines can take on lifting jobs in restricted access areas and confined spaces that other cranes can’t.
Unic mini cranes were transported from floor to floor using hoists so they could install glazing and steelwork in Dubai’s D1 Tower. Unic URW-295 spider cranes could easily move around the 80 storey skyscraper because of their compact size and small footprint.
To complete a difficult lifting project at the St Botolph’s building in central London, three Unic URW-706 mini cranes were set up on towers to lift steel stairwells into place on the 13 floor structure. Using a remote control to carry out the precision lifting required, the crane’s outriggers were slotted into specially created sockets to provide a stable lifting base.

A 6 tonne capacity Unic URW-706 mini crane was also lifted 283 metres in the air to the top of The Shard in London. The spider crane was dismantled into two parts for its ascent to the 87th floor of Europe’s tallest skyscraper. Our Unic mini crane operators – who do all their own stunts – worked around the clock to finish installing 440 glass panels to the building’s façade to the project’s schedule.
