Two UNIC Spider Cranes Glaze Store Front
Replacing glass in a large, crowded retail store is never easy but UNIC’s compact spider cranes are able to squeeze into the smallest spaces. Two UNIC URW-295 mini cranes teamed up with a 320kg P11104 Connect-4 glass vacuum lifter at a major shopping centre in York recently and re-glazed the store fronts with no problems.
With nearly one ton of lifting power and a lifting height of up to 8.8m, the UNIC URW-095 is one of the most popular mini cranes in the industry. A 700kg Searcher Hook was fitted to one of the spider cranes to increase its reach to 10.47m to lift long glass fins underneath a soffit.
The tricky job called for two URW-295 mini spider cranes; one to remove and replace the damaged glass from inside the store and one to hold the structure in place outside. The structure was in safe hands with the URW-295; the advanced safety system on these mini cranes includes turnover protection with stability warning lamp and alarm to prevent the crane from tipping over.
The P11104 Connect-4 vacuum lifter was used to install the 210kg replacement glass. Engineered and tested for its reliability, safety and durability, the P11104 glass sucker comes with a 320kg lifting capacity and two separate vacuum circuits, each designed with the ability to handle the load independently for extra safety. This popular glass lifter comes with on-board power from a rechargeable battery, so there are no tricky cords to deal with during operation – very handy when installing glass at height.
It is very important to use the right equipment for your project; remember, sometimes two spiders are better than one. For advice about how to handle tricky glazing work please contact your nearest dealer.
