UNIC CRANE FEATURES ON BBC TOP GEAR BURMA SPECIAL
Furukawa Unic, the Japanese manufacturer of our UNIC cranes don’t just produce high performance mini spider cranes, they also create truck-mounted cranes, one of which is appearing on an upcoming episode of BBC’s Top Gear.
UNIC telescopic boom cranes are designed to be mounted on light, medium or heavy duty vehicles, and this one will be in the capable hands of James May during the Top Gear episode. Joining his co-presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, each were challenged to buy a lorry online with a limited budget for a driving expedition across Burma in Southeast Asia.
The UNIC truck-mounted crane is sure to be used for some lifting work during the trip, especially when the three presenters are challenged to build a bridge across the River Kwai.
Fans of Top Gear will know that there is bound to be a few incidents along the way during this special episode, we just hope the UNIC truck mounted crane survives! And by the looks of things there might be some “don’t try this at home” moments when it comes to sticking to health and safety regulations…
Part 1 of the Top Gear Burma Special will be shown on BBC2 Sunday 9th March at 8pm.
