UNIC crane hits the gym for swimming pool lift
A UNIC mini spider crane used its lifting muscles to help install an adjustable floor to the swimming pool in a new fitness centre in the West Midlands, UK.
The UNIC URW-095 model worked alongside the 25 metre long six lane swimming pool, lifting pieces of metal decking down 3.5 metres to the pool floor. This metal structure will form a movable floor which can be raised or lowered so the pool depth can be adjusted for different activities.
The 0.995 tonne capacity spider crane lifted a number of 100kg metal sections and four drive motors weighing 300kg each over the course of the job. This extremely compact mini crane is just 600mm wide so could easily move through tight gaps to access the swimming pool and was able to work underneath the low ceiling.
