UNIC crane plays in the big leagues at Yankee stadium
A UNIC mini spider crane from North American UNIC dealers Spydercrane USA was recently hired to work inside Yankee Stadium, the home of the New York Yankees baseball team.
A UNIC URW-376 mini crane was hired to lift and fit metal railings around the concourse and upper decks of the Yankee stadium in New York City. The 2.9 tonne capacity spider crane provided a cheaper and quicker alternative lifting method to expensive scaffolding for installing the 320kg metal railings. Thanks to the efficient performance of this crane, the lifting work that the customer thought would take a full week took just one day to complete.
With a chassis width of just 1300mm, the mini crane could easily fit through the access doors of the 50,000 capacity stadium. A diesel/ electric dual powered crane model was chosen to fit in with the site’s health and safety regulations that stipulated only machines with minimal fumes could be used on internal works.
UNIC mini spider cranes have also been hired to work on sports stadiums in the UK such as The SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, the Britannia football stadium in Stoke, the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and Aquatics Centre in London’s Olympic Park.
