A UNIC mini spider crane was hired to work at Haymarket railway station in Edinburgh, Scotland to help install some tricky overhead glazing.
Haymarket station is the second busiest station in the Scottish city of Edinburgh and has recently undergone a £24 million refurbishment. A 2.9 tonne capacity UNIC URW-376 mini crane was used to fit glass panels to the roof of the new station concourse.
The UNIC URW-376 spider crane was fitted with a GL-UMC600 robotic glazing head which has been specially designed to sit on the end of a UNIC crane’s boom. This 600kg capacity lifting attachment used vacuum power to handle each 200kg glass load. The mini crane lifted the glass into an overhead position so it could be fitted to the 9 metre high roof.
The URW-376 model has a chassis which is just 1.3 metres wide, making it ideal for working within the limited space available inside the station.
