UNIC mini crane sprints ahead on glazing job
A UNIC mini crane recently installed glazing panels for a new viewing gallery at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, UK.
A 6 tonne capacity UNIC URW-706 spider crane was set up on the centre’s indoor athletics track to lift 16 toughened glass panels up to multiple levels of the viewing gallery. Working at a 15 metre radius, the compact crane was combined with a glass vacuum lifter to safely handle the glass.
The mini crane was compact enough to work inside the sports centre with ease. Each outrigger was set up on mats to protect the 200 metre running track. As one of the UK’s best sports facilities, the institute was used by Team GB to train in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics.
UNIC mini cranes are often used for construction and glazing projects at major sporting arenas including many venues used for 2012’s Olympic Games in London, such as the Aquatics Centre in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
