UNIC Mini Cranes Erect Structural Steel
A 6 tonne capacity UNIC URW-706, used its extended reach and lifting muscle to install long vertical steel posts and poles on two construction projects in the UK. The UNIC URW-706 mini spider crane was hired to add the finishing touches to Redcar Leisure and Community Heart centre before it opened to the public. This mini crane installed three 10 metre long posts at the £31m new leisure complex in North Yorkshire, UK.
Working with great accuracy, the UNIC URW-706 was able to lift up each 250kg pole into a vertical position then set them at different angles in the ground to create the architect’s unusual looking entrance way for the leisure centre. With multi-positionable outriggers that provided a sturdy base for lifting, the mini crane could safely work over the uneven ground to install the poles. One of the reasons why this heavy-duty model is extremely popular with UNIC’s customers is that it offers a generous 18.6 metre max working radius and 19.5m maximum lifting height provided by its six section hydraulically telescoping boom. It can even be fitted with a 3.1 metre long swing away fly jib for an increased lifting height of 22.7 metres.
A pair of UNIC URW-706 cranes were also hired for another job in North Yorkshire, this time to build a new accommodation block at a boarding school in York. Two mini cranes worked together to raise the steel posts which would form the steel skeleton of the new dorms. Further along the project, a UNIC URW-706 went back to the site to install horizontal steel beams in the building’s shell. At just 1.67 metres wide when stowed, this UNIC crane can still reach restricted access areas on sites despite its larger lifting capacity.
For reaching even greater heights, take a look at the UNIC URW-706’s big brother, the 10 tonne capacity UNIC URW-1006 which can lift to a huge 30.7 metre height. For more information about UNIC’s mini crane range contact your nearest dealer.
