UNIC SPIDER CRANE BUILDS SET FOR OPEN AIR THEATRE
A UNIC URW-095 mini spider crane was hired to help create an eye-catching set for a production of The Gershwins’ Porgy & Bess at the Regent’s Park open air theatre in London recently.
The UNIC mini crane used its 0.995 tonne lifting capacity to build a pair of copper effect walls by lifting the 250kg fibreglass and polystyrene sections onto a metal framework. The LPG powered UNIC URW-095 crane was able to move around the stage of this 1,250 capacity venue with ease and it could be quickly set up into various lifting positions to install the wall.
UNIC mini spider cranes have been used for lifting projects at this open air theatre in the past as a UNIC URW-295 model installed steelwork and staircases for a production of “Into The Woods”. A UNIC URW-376 mini crane was also hired to lift wooden beams to build the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
