UNIC spider crane lifts steel statue in Sheffield
A 2.9 tonne capacity UNIC URW-376 mini spider crane proved to be the perfect lifting solution to install this steel sculpture in Sheffield, UK recently.
The mini crane was used to create the Steve Medhi designed “Tall Dreams” sculpture in the courtyard of the Sheffield city centre Velocity Village development.
A truck mounted crane lifted the UNIC URW-376 spider crane onto a 2 metre wide walkway which it was then tracked along, performing a tight turn around the corners, to reach the lifting area in the elevated courtyard. Once in position, the spider crane first erected the 4 metre tall column before placing the 1.5 metre tall steel figure on top of it.
UNIC mini cranes are often used to install statues and sculptures in public spaces, such as the Yayoi Kusama statue at Selfridges department store in London and the “Equus Altus” steel horse sculpture in Trinity Leeds shopping centre, UK.
