A 6 tonne capacity Unic URW-706 mini crane used its lifting strength to help erect steelwork in Kew, London.
The crane was lifted down to the basement floor of the house by special transport so it could help create the new building’s frame by lifting steel beams into position. Working for two days, the mini crane was mounted on timber billets to provide stability for lifting the 500kg and 1250kg steel pieces safely and quickly.
The Unic URW-706 crane had the perfect combination of power and minimal dimensions for this project as it could easily access the lifting location and be set up to work around the congested site.
Larger Unic spider crane models have often been used to lift steel on house construction and renovation projects, such as this job on a contemporary mansion in South London which was part of Channel 4’s Grand Designs series.
