When it comes to construction projects in confined urban environments, traditional cranes aren’t always an option. That’s precisely the challenge faced at the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Spider Plus recently completed an intricate façade installation using the UNIC URW-547 Spider Crane.

The project required the installation of triangular glass panels weighing around 500 – 550kg. With limited space on site, accessing the façade with conventional equipment was impossible. To overcome this, Spider Plus relied on the compact yet powerful URW-547, fitted with the GL-UMC600 glass manipulator. This combination allowed the team to manoeuvre heavy glass panels with exceptional precision and control, even in tight spaces, ensuring both efficiency and safety throughout the installation.
The URW-547 Spider Crane is designed specifically for operations in restricted or hard-to-reach areas. Despite its compact footprint, it boasts impressive lifting capacity and extended reach. and flexible outrigger configurations. This allows it to stabilise on uneven surfaces while maintaining precision control. Its telescopic boom and advanced hydraulic system provide smooth, accurate movements, making it ideal for handling delicate loads such as glass panels. The crane’s versatility, combined with the specialised glass manipulator, ensured the triangular panels were positioned securely during the underslung installation process.

This project is a testament to UNIC’s commitment to delivering innovative lifting solutions for complex construction challenges. By combining advanced crane technology with precise planning and skilled operation, Spider Plus was able to execute a façade installation that required both technical precision and careful handling.
