UNIC Cranes Europe’s customer requested a contract lift for the installation of curtain wall glazing for a residential property in London. Located in a suburban area with restricted access, the project required expert planning, operation, and precise equipment.
This project presented several challenges, including a small lifting area between gates, preventing the use of larger cranes. The 5.96m overhang and the height of the glazing added complexity, necessitating equipment that could reach the required height without hitting the overhang. Additionally, the large surface area of the glazing required careful and precise handling and lifting.
Following the initial site survey, lift plan, and risk assessment, UNIC Cranes Europe selected the UNIC URW-295 Mini Spider Crane and the P11104 Glass Vacuum Lifter. The URW-295 was chosen for its compact size and lifting power, making it ideal for the project. The P11104, a 320kg capacity vacuum lifter with dual independent vacuum circuits, complemented the crane perfectly.
Upon arrival, UNIC’s experienced operator tracked and positioned the UNIC URW-295 Mini Spider Crane in the 6m gap between the gates. With adjustable outrigger angles and lengths, the 295 fit into the narrow space, ensuring optimal lift position. With a 2.9t max capacity and a safe load indicator, the URW-295 supported the combined weight of the 256kg curtain wall glazing and the 44kg P11104. The crane’s user-friendly and precise controls allowed the operator to place the glass accurately without contacting the overhang.
The P11104 Glass Vacuum Lifter lifted the large glazing confidently with its 320kg vacuum power and Intelli-Grip technology. The onboard power and radio remote control eliminated the need for cords, facilitating a smooth operation. The lifter’s 90˚ manual rotation and tilting enabled precise positioning of each glazing unit.
UNIC Cranes Europe’s expert team and reliable lifting solutions, combined with the client’s installation team, ensured the timely completion of the glazing project. The compact yet powerful UNIC URW-295 Mini Spider Crane provided strength and stability in a restricted area, while the P11104 Glass Vacuum Lifter ensured safe lifting and installation.
