A Unic mini crane double act took on a heavy-duty lifting task recently for the redevelopment project at the Olympia Exhibition Centre, which is celebrating its 125 year anniversary this year.
Two Unic URW-506 spider cranes were used in tandem to lift 4 tonne steel beams to a 5.5 metre height to create a new floor. The 3 tonne capacity mini cranes worked in perfect synchronisation to move the 15 metre long steels into position for installation, with added safety provided by the working area limitation feature on this Unic mode
These compact yet powerful cranes were ideal for this job as they could be easily transported to the lifting location through areas with limited access. Once both cranes had been lifted up to the landing deck on the first floor, the pair of machines moved through the double doorway and into the venue ready to take on the job.
