Thanks to the compact size and efficiency of UNIC mini spider cranes, they are often hired to take on repair and maintenance work at schools, colleges and universities over the summer holidays before term starts again.
This UNIC URW-506 mini crane was hired to get the Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy in Stoke-on-Trent, UK ready for when the students returned after the summer break. Named after local football legend Sir Stanley Matthews, this state of the art school/ sports centre cost £20 million to build.
The 3 tonne capacity UNIC URW-506 crane was able to replace a number of broken windows around the school building. This model was able to lift the 265kg units using a glass vacuum lifter and reach panels at a 13 metre height.
The mini crane could easily be transported to the different lifting locations at the school as it was tracked over the concrete yard using wooden boards to protect the ground.
